.Brian O'Brien:
Brian is the charismatic, dashing, lovable rogue
who brought Rob into the fold, pornographically speaking. Despite
his youth, Brian is a longtime editor in the field of "men’s entertainment,"
so it was only natural that he’d scoop up an eager (re: hungry) talent
like Rob when the opportunity presented itself. Like Rob, Brian also
wishes to be doing something else with his life, though for the time being
he is senior editor at Pork, one of the mainstays of Rob’s income.
A budding filmmaker, Brian is one of Rob’s best buddies.
Matt:
Matt is another cartoonist, though how he supports
himself is not entirely clear. Brought up in a moneyed background,
his finances are murky, since he lives large, yet seems to do nothing to
attain income. He is neurotic, high-strung and acquisitive, at times,
to annoying lengths. Matt has the attention span of a wound up Chihuahua.
Clearly he is one of Rob’s most "high maintenance" friends, requiring extra
attention and care. Rob puts up with him because at his core, he
is a stand up guy who’d be there if you needed him. Nuff said.
Azure Placido
:
Azure, Matt’s handful of a girlfriend, is a carpe
diem kind of gal. If there’s kicks to be had she’s going to be doing
the kicking and seize life by the balls. A stripper . . . ahem, exotic
dancer by profession, Azure aspires to take the world by storm. In
many ways, Azure’s desires mirror Sylvia’s, in that she wants to experience
as much as possible. She wants to create music, poetry, art, you
name it. But in the meantime she’ll peel for drooling men.
And why not?
Max:
Max is another editor buddy, though one out of
the porn loop. Max toils for Diversion Weekly, an entertainment glossy
for which Rob wishes he was illustrating. Max is a shy, good natured
"nice guy," who’d like nothing more than to be a cool-hearted chick magnet.
Though abundantly well versed in pop culture, he never has the chance to
impress some nubile young lass with his seemingly bottomless wellspring
of knowledge since he’s too hesitant to get in there and start conversatin’
wit da ladies.
Jack Netzer:
Jack is Rob’s former roommate and arguably his
best friend. Also an artist—specifically a caricaturist—Jack, too,
hungers for other pursuits. His are even more elevated than Rob’s:
Jack aspires to attain complete inertia. Though work is the bane
of his existence, he is diligent nonetheless, since his feeding his addiction
doesn’t come cheap. Jack is a bibliophile to the point of the ridiculous,
Jack will not rest until every square inch of his apartment is covered
with every edition of every tome by every author he has deigned worthy
of collecting. And that’s a lot.
Maddie:
Maddie is a lesbian first and a lawyer second,
but mainly she is Sylvia’s best friend since they were in junior high school.
Though the two of them dabbled together in the past, Sylvia is devoted
to Rob, which Maddie respects (although she still fancies Sylvia a bit).
Maddie is the only one of Sylvia’s friends who Rob really likes.
Elvis Seward Foucault III:
Elvis, another editor at Pork, is the only person
Rob works for who aspires to out-filth the other filth-makers in the porn
biz. A low budget Nero on a mission to lead as decadent a lifestyle
as one can on an abject salary, Elvis lives to be the leather-clad renaissance
man of porn, poetry and junk food. "Too much is never enough" would
be a fitting description of his hell-bent approach to life. Especially
if too much incorporates fatty foods, candy bars and the odd cruciform
being carved into his ample belly while being peed on.
